Tube Bending and Metal Forming: Hybrid Servo Actuators Eliminated Leaky Hydraulics and Improved Quality

A manufacturer of metal utility light poles wanted to improve the quality of their tube-bending and metal-forming machines. They were using hydraulic cylinders and wanted to upgrade to servo actuators, but required high-force electric actuators that can handle metal forming operations. They needed a robust electric actuator solution that was both environmentally friendly and could tolerate shock loading. An electro-mechanical actuator could not cost-effectively provide the required forces needed, nor could it tolerate the shock loads inherent in the process.
