An Aerospace special machine OEM was developing a new metal forming machine for an airframe customer. The machine operations involved metal rolling, flaring, and pressing. They required electric actuators that could handle metal fabrication applications and didn’t want to use hydraulic cylinders. They also ruled out using electro-mechanical actuators because they couldn’t handle the shock loading from this application.
