HOW SERVO POWER UNITS WORK

Kyntronics SPUs connect to external hydraulic cylinders or rotary motors, supplied by Kyntronics or other manufacturers. Their servo-controlled design operates by using a servo motor connected to a drive, which can be provided by Kyntronics (SPU – Total Solution) or integrated with a motor and drive provided by others (SPU –  Power Unit Only). Position sensors are mounted to the cylinder or machine mechanism for closed-loop control of position. The SPU controls the motor speed and torque using the sensor inputs for feedback. The SPU does not use expensive proportional valves or hydraulic servo valves for control.

Additionally, optional internal pressure transducers measure extend and retract pressure at the hose connection points, allowing precise force calculations in both directions. The SPU control software enables users to manage position, force, or a combination of both, making it a versatile solution for various applications.

A VERSATILE AND SCALABLE SOLUTION

SPUs offer a compact and flexible alternative to traditional hydraulic power systems. They are particularly useful in applications where Kyntronics’ Hybrid Linear Actuators (SHA) cannot fit within the available space. SPUs are compatible with most common fieldbus networks, including CanBus, Ethernet, and Modbus, facilitating seamless integration into existing machine control systems.
