Hybrid Linear Actuator (SHA) Sizing Guide

Sizing a Hybrid Electro-Hydraulic Actuator (SHA)

Kyntronics’ all-electric, Hybrid Electro-Hydraulic Linear Actuators (SHA) solve manufacturing challenges. Our Hybrid Actuators have shorter lead-times and maximum flexibility with a wide array of mounting options, configurations, and optional features.

Sizing the right hybrid electro servo actuator can be done in 5 easy steps.

  1. Load – Determine the force needed to complete the desired work.
  2. Speed – Determine the speed requirements of the system. This can be given in terms of in/s or mm/s.
  3. Stroke Length – Determine the distance of travel the actuator needs to move for work to be completed.
  4. Duty Cycle – Confirm the duty cycle time of the operation. This is the total run time and rest time throughout the day.
  5. Machine Fit – Choose the product configuration and mounting options for the rod end and actuator mount.

Not sure which type of Actuator Technology is right for your project? We can configure a solution for you. In the video below, the Kyntronics team walks through how to properly size a Servo Hybrid Actuator (SHA) for your application. The video explains how force requirements influence cylinder bore size, how stroke and speed impact servo motor and gear pump selection, and why understanding duty cycle and application trends is critical to long-term reliability.
