Appliance Coining and Piercing Machine
Challenge
A machine builder was tasked to develop a new metal forming press and coining machine for an appliance customer. The customer specified “no hydraulics” but the machines needed to handle the force requirements and shock loads inherent in the coining and punching process. They also required servo press actuators due to the quality standards required for the parts that would be produced on this machine. With shock loads being a factor, screw-type actuators were ruled out.
