HOW KYNTRONICS HYBRID ACTUATORS INTEGRATE WITH ROCKWELL AUTOMATION DRIVES & CONTROLS

See how Kyntronics hybrid actuators integrate with Rockwell Automation ControlLogix® platform using a comprehensive add-on instruction (AOI).

Today’s industrial machines require more than powerful actuation, they require seamless integration with the control platforms engineers already rely on. For many OEMs and machine builders, that platform is Rockwell Automation. Kyntronics supports these environments through direct integration tools designed specifically for Rockwell Automation controls to reduce integration time.

Kyntronics is a Rockwell Automation Technology Partner, a designation that recognizes companies whose solutions integrate with Rockwell’s control architecture to help customers simplify implementation and improve system performance. To further streamline integration, Kyntronics developed a Rockwell Automation Add-On Instruction (AOI) for the ControlLogix® platform that allows hybrid linear actuators and servo power units to interface directly with Rockwell Automation PLC and motion control systems.

Kyntronics AOI for Rockwell Automation Control Systems

This AOI enables engineers to quickly implement advanced control functions without extensive programming. Through the instruction, users can establish position control, force control, and position control with force limiting modes with the flexibility to switch between them (bumplessly) depending on the needs of the application. The AOI also allows for seamless integration with the robust FactoryTalk® software, within which engineers can synchronize multiple actuators as needed for advanced motion coordination.

In addition, Kyntronics hybrid linear actuators (SHA Actuator Only) are designed to integrate with Rockwell Automation servo motors and Kinetix® servo drives, enabling streamlined implementation within Rockwell-based systems. This compatibility supports a unified control approach using standard Rockwell Automation control and motion components.

Within this system, the AOI closes the loops in the PLC, sending the appropriate speed signal to the Kinetix drive. A virtual axis is used to provide motion commands to the hybrid linear actuator (Kyntronics SHA) axis, allowing the integration of the powerful Rockwell Automation motion commands.
