Challenge

An Oil Field Services company was working with a well operator who was seeking to improve reliability and productivity in their field operations by automating sequential valve operation. They were experiencing labor shortages and found the manual process of controlling valves was unreliable. They were also seeking an alternative to their existing hydraulic power unit that required extensive maintenance and experienced unacceptable downtime. The new system needed to work with existing valves with upgraded valve actuation that was programmable and used to control multiple valves sequentially.

  • Multi-port “Quad” Servo Power Unit (SPU) with servo drive and programmable control software for valve automation to control multiple valves sequentially
  • The “Quad” SPU allowed controlled operation of up to 4 valves in sequential or simultaneous operation.

  • Integral HMI for programming and operation control
  • Kyntronics-supplied linear actuator with intrinsically safe position sensor that adapted to an existing needle valve
  • Adapting to existing Plug Valves with rotary actuator valve regulation to maintain the required output pressure
