Challenge

The United States Navy wanted to upgrade its hydraulic fatigue testing machine (hexapod) using precision linear actuators. They were having issues with the existing hydraulic power unit and cylinders due to leaks and excessive noise. This six-axis testing actuation solution required multiple program modes with a single actuator design to test material and collect data for analysis. The application required linear actuators that provided precise control over a wide force range.
