Tube Bundling Material Handling: Robust Hybrid Electric Actuators that Reliably Withstand High Shock Loads

Challenge

A steel pipe manufacturer wanted to replace hydraulic cylinder actuators used on the lifting and positioning mechanisms on a material bundler. They were experiencing leaks that were causing unplanned downtime, excessive maintenance, and environmental concerns. They required robust linear actuators that could handle the high shock loads inherent with this machine, which ruled out using electro-mechanical actuators.

  • “Total Solution” electric linear actuators were installed. The system included actuators, motors, cables and drives/controls mounted on backplates, all factory-tested, and tuned.
