Challenge

An OEM of hydraulic servo powder forming presses had a customer requirement to remove all hydraulics from their machines and improve force and position control while increasing reliability. This application required high-force actuators for compressing the powdered metal, which eliminated electro-mechanical actuators from consideration due to the failure risk associated with the highly concentrated forces prevalent with their applications.
