Fatigue Testing System: Integrating Hybrid Actuators' Feedback with Customer's Lab Test Software

Challenge

The United States DOE needed a servo-hydraulic fatigue testing actuator solution to exert a very high radial load test force on a bearing test stand and capture force and position data for data logging and tracking. They were interested in a standalone servo-actuated load testing machine that would avoid the use of an HPU with its associated hoses and cylinders, that was robust and ultra-reliable.

Kyntronics Solution

  • “Total Solution” high-force electric linear actuator rated up to 150,000 lbf. The system included the actuator, motor, cables, and control system in an enclosure with software.
  • Linear actuator with force and position feedback using servo control, integrated with the customer’s lab test software.
  • The actuator produced a sinusoidal wave motion profile.
  • Flexibility to expand to a higher force range in the future if needed.
