Assembly / Pressing: Electric Assembly Press Machine Enhances Axle Production with High Force Hybrid Actuators

A heavy truck axle manufacturer ordered a horizontal assembly press machine for a new axle line from a special machine builder. The customer had recently begun an initiative to remove HPUs and hydraulic cylinder actuators from their facilities and specified no hydraulics on this new machine. The new machine required electric high-force actuators for the assembly press and was required to achieve improved process quality in response to a company-wide initiative to improve throughput and reduce rework. Finally, the new machine would use Rockwell Automation motors and drives.
