Electric Actuators

Electric linear actuators are a more recent development in actuation technology and have seen widespread use in applications that require high quality, efficient and precise controlled movement. Electric linear actuators are available in several different types and are used in many industries that require high quality performance, high precision and reliable operation.

Kyntronics Electric Actuators require either AC or DC power to operate. They use an attached motor and integral pump that operates on a closed circuit using a small volume of fluid that is not exposed to the environment, preventing contamination. The fluid does not require replenishment or replacement.

Kyntronics electric linear actuators use an integral hydraulic cylinder to create linear motion. There are no gears, screws or other mechanical components required.

The actuator extends the cylinder rod by the motor rotating the pump in one direction. Retracting the cylinder rod is accomplished by reversing the motor direction.

A position sensor or limit switches provide feedback to the motor control to determine when the actuator motor starts and stops and which direction to run. When using a position sensor, the actuator is servo-controlled allowing precise positioning.

Kyntronics electric linear actuators are available with optional pressure transducers that measure extend and retract pressure at the cylinder allowing precise calculation of applied force in both directions. Control of position, force or a combination of both is often used on applications such as pressing, testing, positioning and many others to achieve precise actuator servo control.

Kyntronics electric actuators provide unique benefits that are not available with other actuation products:

  • Energy savings using power-on-demand.
  • Low maintenance; the actuator does not require fluid changes like hydraulic actuators or periodic lubrication like
    screw-type actuators.
  • Shock load tolerance.
  • The totally-sealed design avoids risk of leaks unlike traditional hydraulics.
  • No metal-to-metal wear improving reliability unlike screw-type actuators.

Our S-Series linear actuators are available in a wide range of sizes:

  • Force Range: from <100 lbs. (0.4 kN) to 150,000 lbs. (667 kN)
  • Speed: up to 34.5 in/s (877 mm/s)
  • Stroke Length: any increment up to 120 in. (3,048 mm)
  • Input Power: 24 – 80 VDC or 120 – 480 VAC

Kyntronics Electro Hydraulic actuators are found in nearly every industry on a variety of applications including:
