Hydraulic Power Units

Kyntronics Servo Power Units (SPU) replace inefficient, leaky and high-maintenance hydraulic power units (hpus) in industrial and mobile applications. They are generally used to power individual cylinders however they can connect with multiple cylinders if needed. The SPU is used for both new installations and retrofit situations.

SPUs connect to external hydraulic cylinders or rotary motors supplied by Kyntronics or others. With their compact size, they can be located very close to the cylinder using short hoses and robust quick-connect fittings, reducing the risk of leaks and efficiency losses.

The SPU operates as a servo controlled power unit by using a servo motor connected to a drive supplied by Kyntronics (our P-Series Total Solution) or by others (our P-Series Power Unit Only option). Position sensors mount to the cylinder or mechanism for closed-loop control of position. Servo control is accomplished using motor speed and torque. The SPU does not use expensive proportional valves or hydraulic servo valves for control.

Optional internal pressure transducers measure extend and retract pressure at the hose connection points allowing precise calculation of applied force in both directions. Control of position, force or a combination of both position and force is available with our standard software (P-Series Total Solution).

Compared with traditional hydraulic power units, the P-Series offers many advantages and benefits:

  • Energy savings using power-on-demand.
  • Precise control of position, force, and speed.
  • Low maintenance; the sealed system does not require fluid changes.
  • The sealed design and short connections minimizes the risk of leaks.

Our P-Series Servo Power Units are available in a wide range of sizes:

  • Pressure Range: up to 3,000 psi (207 bar)
  • Flow Rate: up to 7 gpm (26.7 lpm)
  • Input Power: 24 – 80 VDC or 120 – 480 VAC
