Electric Cylinders
Electric cylinders are a term often used to describe an electric linear actuator. There are many types of electric cylinders available ranging from simple low duty cycle, low-cost devices for consumer and light duty commercial applications, to rugged industrial linear actuators that are servo controlled and used on critical precision applications.
Kyntronics electric cylinder actuators aka electro-hydraulic actuators are either AC or DC powered. They are a linear actuator with a totally sealed design that incorporates an integral cylinder driven by an attached motor and pump that operates on a closed circuit using a small volume of fluid that is not exposed to the environment, preventing contamination. The fluid does not require replenishment or replacement. There are no gears, screws or other mechanical components required. This type of electric cylinder is referred to as an electro-hydraulic actuator or electric hydraulic actuator.
The linear motion produced by our electro-hydraulic actuator is simple, the actuator extends the cylinder rod by the motor rotating the pump in one direction. Retracting the cylinder rod is accomplished by reversing the motor direction. Kyntronics electro-hydraulic actuators are often used as a servo linear actuator to provide precise linear motion control. A position sensor or limit switches provide feedback to the programmable actuator controller to determine when the actuator motor starts and stops and can be programmed to precisely move to set positions.
Our electric cylinder actuators are often provided as a complete actuation system including the linear actuator with controller, position and/or force feedback sensors and software.
Kyntronics electro-hydraulic actuators can be configured to meet the requirements of a wide range of applications, even more niche or complex ones. Our electric cylinders provide this advantage over traditional screw-type electric cylinders that have a limited number of configurations because the method of power transmission using gears, nuts, belts limits their flexibility.
Kyntronics electro-hydraulic actuators use a fluid path to transmit power from its internal pump to the integral cylinder. When coupled with our standard modular building blocks, this design allows us to provide a wide range of configurations to improve space efficiency, power control, and general versatility of the cylinder.
Kyntronics’ actuators with modular building block components ensures that we can provide solutions for a wide range of linear motion applications. Today’s standards for modern equipment are strict requiring higher performance. Our products meet those demands providing advantages like excellent energy efficiency, precise process control, the ability to collect data for quality evaluation and predictive maintenance, and IoT connectivity.
