Hydraulic Actuator
Hydraulic linear actuators are essentially a hydraulic cylinder powered by a hydraulic power unit. Hydraulic linear actuators produce high forces and are very robust in that they tolerate shock loads without damage. Unfortunately, hydraulic linear actuators have drawbacks such as high risk for leaks, high maintenance, high energy consumption and are hard to precisely control.
Kyntronics electro hydraulic actuators (SHA) are an alternative to hydraulic actuators. The SHA eliminates the drawbacks of hydraulic actuators. They are totally sealed, electrically powered, and use an attached motor and integral pump. They operate on a closed circuit using a small volume of fluid that is not exposed to the environment, preventing contamination and does not require replenishment or replacement.
