Timber Processing Chip Head Positioner

Challenge

A machine builder of lumber mill equipment had a mill customer that wanted to eliminate hydraulics from a chip head positioner due to hydraulic leaks that were spoiling the finished lumber product. They were also looking to improve the positioning accuracy of the chip head. A screw-type actuator would not work due to the high forces and shock loading of this environment.
