Heavy Duty Linear Actuators

Often you need more than just a standard linear actuator to handle the duty cycle, shock loads, rugged environment, force demands or other difficult requirements of certain mobile and industrial actuator applications. Until recently, these conditions have meant machine builders had limited heavy duty linear actuator options.

Conventional hydraulic cylinders / hydraulic linear actuators powered by hydraulic power units have typically been used in these applications however Kyntronics SMART electro-hydraulic actuators are frequently chosen due to their superior performance as machine builders move away from the inherent problems with industrial hydraulic cylinders in conventional hydraulic systems. Ball screw and roller screw actuators are sometimes chosen however they are more fragile and are susceptible to damage and pre-mature failure from shock loads, side loading and concentrated loading conditions.

The design of Kyntronics electro-hydraulic actuators makes them universally applicable to nearly all industrial applications including those considered as heavy duty linear actuator situations requiring extreme high force. They are a totally sealed design that incorporates an integral cylinder driven by an attached motor and pump that operates on a closed circuit using a small volume of fluid that is not exposed to the environment, preventing contamination. The fluid does not require replenishment or replacement. There are no gears, screws or other mechanical components required.

Kyntronics electro-hydraulic linear actuators provide unique benefits that are not available with other actuation technologies used in heavy duty electric linear applications such as hydraulic linear actuators or ball screw and roller screw actuators:

  • Energy savings using power-on-demand.
  • Low maintenance; the actuator does not require fluid changes that are required by hydraulic actuators or regular lubrication required by ball screw or roller screw-type actuators.
  • Robust with high tolerance for shock loads, side-loading and end stop crashes that damage ball screw and roller screw actuators.
  • Totally sealed design avoids risk of leaks unlike traditional hydraulics.
  • No metal-to-metal wear improving reliability unlike screw-type actuators.

Kyntronics heavy duty electric linear actuators are found in nearly every industry on a variety of applications including:

  • Presses
  • Assembly
  • Metal Bending
  • Lifting
  • Hole punching
  • Material Handling
  • Packaging
  • Testing
  • Clamping
  • Extruding
  • Molding
  • Valve Control
