Linear Servo
Linear servo describes a device operating with a linear motion profile that is precisely controlled. Electrical versions of linear servos operate using a servo motor and servo drive to control the motor speed and torque powering the device. These servo-driven devices are well known for precise, repeatable movements and are perfect for applications such as manufacturing equipment that require high precision operation.
A Linear servo actuator is a type of linear servo device that is available in a variety of technologies. The more popular types include: electro-hydraulic actuators, electro-mechanical actuators and servo cylinders.
Linear servo actuators incorporate a servo motor, servo drive and control system that provides its capability to precisely control position, force, speed and dwell. Linear servo actuators use position feedback devices and other sensors that are connected into the servo control system for closed-loop feedback.
